Why Use and Oil Temperature Gauge?
Oil temperature gauges are used for monitoring oil temperature. Oil subjected to too high of heat can lose it's lubrication properties that keep metal parts from touching.

The needle will indicate the current oil temperature on the application being monitored. This reading should remain fairly steady and may increase under heavy acceleration. You will need to know what to expect from your system.

If the oil temperature rises above the desired limit, you should reduce the load placed on the engine or transmission to help reduce the temperature and then determine what is causing the overheating situation and fix it.

Electric Full Sweep Oil Temperature Gauge
Marshall electric oil temperature gauges are connected, via wires to a temperature sender which is installed in a port in the system being monitored, providing the temperature information to the gauge.

CAUTION: Electric gauges that require senders must be "matched" with the correct sender. If a sender that does not have the same electrical match is used the gauge will not provide the proper readings and the needle may act erratically. Marshall Instruments electric oil temperature gauges include the required sender.

Mechanical Oil Temperature Gauges
Mechanical oil temperature gauges are connected directly to a port in the system being monitored via a capillary tube and bulb. This capillary tube MUST NOT be cut, pinched or altered in any way or the gauge will not function.
