Why Use a Fuel Pressure Gauge Fuel pressure gauges:
You will need to be aware of the desired fuel pressure range. Generally, carbureted applications operate around 7 psi and require a 15 psi gauge. Most modern fuel injected systems operate over 40 psi. You should check with your engine builder for the operating fuel pressure range of your system. If using nitrous oxide you will need to ensure you have accounted for the additional fuel required during nitrous activation. NOTE: If modifications have been made to your engine you need to verify that your fuel pump is capable of producing the required pressure and volume required to maintain the proper air/fuel mixtures. The needle will indicate the current fuel pressure on the application being monitored. This reading should remain fairly steady and may vary with engine RPM depending on the particular application. You will need to know what to expect from your system. If the fuel pressure drops below the desired limits, you should, as quickly as possible, determine and fix whatever has caused the loss of pressure before engine damage occurs.
