What is the BATT (Always On) Connection For? The BATT (Always On) connection is required for the SCX based stepper motor gauge pointer to return to 0 when the ignition is turned off. If you do not connect the BATT gauge connection to the battery + (always on) connect it to your 12V ignition source so the 12V BATT connection has full 12V power when the ignition is ON. Without 12V power to the BATT connection the stepper motor gauge pointer will stay at its last reading (i.e. 30 PSI, 200F, 800 RPM etc) when the ignition is turned off. This does not affect the gauge (other than the pointer not returning to 0). When the ignition is turned back on, the gauge will perform its self calibration cycle and operate normally. Back to FAQs
